Livio Felluga Winery has its origins in the 1930s when its namesake moved to the rolling Alpine foothills of Rosazzo. Livio began replanting the vines here, laying the foundation for a winery that is still going strong almost 100 years later, under the guidance of his children.
The estate spans 228 hectares in all, covering a huge variety of terroirs and making it one of the largest wineries in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes grew with their roots in Ponca, an ancient soil rich in sandstone, which grants a strong minerality and distinct tanginess to its wine.
Felluga’s Sauvignon Blanc is a brilliant incarnation of the varietal, shining golden yellow in the glass, with attractive green hues. The nose is pungent and summery, alive with notes of lime, yellow pepper, white flowers and spicy herbs. These flavours continue onto the palate, which is marked by a rigorous acidity and a fresh, juicy character. There are also notes of peach and pineapple to be found, making this a truly characterful and balanced Sauvignon Blanc, ready to be enjoyed by anybody. It will be an excellent partner for fresh seafood, or North Italian staples such as pesto alla Genovese.
A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!
