The Jean-Marc Burgaud estate was founded in 1989 in Villié-Morgon and spans about 17.5 hectares of vineyards across Morgon and Lantignié. The winery is renowned for its excellent Gamay wines, crafted with a strong focus on the pure expression of terroir. Production involves single-plot vinification and extended aging, yet with limited use of new oak.
The Gamay grapes are sourced from vineyards in Lantignié, characterized by decomposed granite soils and granitic sands. Following the harvest, the wine undergoes Beaujolais-style fermentation with whole-cluster carbonic maceration. The finished wine then rests in tanks for 4–5 months prior to bottling.
The result is a fresh, fruity Beaujolais Villages that fully expresses the character of the Gamay grape. In the glass, the wine displays a brilliant, intense ruby hue and a fragrant, lively aromatic profile featuring notes of cherry, strawberry, cranberry, and raspberry, interspersed with floral and earthy nuances. On the palate, it is juicy and refreshing, with medium body and vibrant acidity. It is smooth and balanced, with a moderately long, fruity finish. Try it with mushroom risotto, turkey breast, or pork escalopes.
