Ilatium Morini Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Due Mori 2015

After years of working as winemakers, and marketing their own grapes, in the '90s, the Morini family decided to buy some vineyards in the Mezzane Valley and a historic farmhouse from the early 1900s. They built a modern cellar and started producing wine under their own label Ilatium Morini. Today the company has expanded to own approximately 40 hectares of vineyards both in Valpolicella and Soave.

The grapes are sourced from approximately 20-30-year-old vineyards located in the area of Mezzane di Sotto and the Valle d'Illasi of Valpolicella, on clayey/limestone soils. After the harvest, the grapes are left to dry until January before fermentation. The wine is then aged for approximately 7 years, of which 6 in barrel and 1 in bottle. It is produced only in the best vintages.

Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Due Mori has a deep and dense color with ruby tones. On the nose, it reveals a complex aromatic profile with notes of black cherries and blueberries, cherries, and other ripe red fruits, followed by ethereal hints and spicy notes. On the palate, it is soft and refined, concentrated and warm. The tannins are silky and the finish is slightly spicy. Try it with dark chocolate, mature hard cheeses, or game meat.
