The Henschke family have been wine-makers since 1862, long before Australia made its way onto the international wine map. The winery is currently led by husband and wife Stephen and Prue, who are ushering in the sixth generation of Henschke viticulturists.

The Henschke family are a considerate group, receiving numerous awards for their approach to sustainability. Prue considers herself a custodian of the land rather than an owner, using fully organic methods to ensure that Henschke vineyards will provide for future generations. The winery sources its fruits from several vineyards across Barossa. This stunning Shiraz originates from Edelstone in Eden Valley, which is considered one of the highest quality viticultural regions in the world.

A bouquet of plum, blackberry, pepper and bold herbs arises from this wine. It is deep crimson in the glass, with a royal purple hue. Made from 100% Shiraz grown in the Edelstone vineyard on 110-year-old vines, this wine is the peak of Barossa reds. It shows depths of flavour, complex and heady, with luxurious and velvety tannins. Focused mulberry and plum can be tasted on the palate, along with undercurrents of sage, star anise and pepper. It retains depth all the way through its long and balanced finish. Savour it alone, or pair it with a tender lamb loin with plum sauce, gamey meats or grilled vegetables.
