Domaine Humbert is run by two brothers, Emmanuel and Frédéric Humbert, who are the fourth generation of their family to work the estate. In 1989 they took over the domaine following the retirement of their parents, and since then they have worked tirelessly to improve quality. The domaine is based in the famous Burgundy village of Gevrey-Chambertin where the brothers have close local connections with other well-known producers like their cousin Bernard Dugat-Py and Pierre Damoy.
In total the brothers have 6 hectares of vineyards, primarily Grand and Premier Cru sites, in and around the village which they primarily work manually. Once vinified the young wine is aged in Châtillonnais oak with 50% of the barrels new and the remainder used. This bottling is composed of selected fruit from their vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin.
On the nose this vibrant red Burgundy is singing with bright red cherry, plum and subtle spiced notes. The first sip reveals a medium body, refreshing streak of acidity and ripe cherry notes which linger on the tongue. A great partner for charcuterie and most types of hard and creamy cheeses as well as roast duck, salmon and chicken dishes.
