Located at the base of the Combe de Lavaux in Gevrey-Chambertin, the Domaine Dugat-Py is owned by Bernard Dugat who manages it together with his wife Jocelyne Py, and their son Loïc. The company, certified organic since 2003, owns about 10 hectares of vineyards distributed between several Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites and planted predominantly with Pinot Noir.
The vines, both in the Côte de Nuits and in the Côte de Beaune, are for the most part extremely old, with an average age of 65 years. Almost all of the estate's wines are designated as Vieilles Vignes or Très Vieilles Vignes. The family takes care of the vineyards with meticulous care. Pruning is done by hand, and replanting takes place with selections from your own vine stock, never with clones. The wines are vinified with the least possible intervention and are bottled unrefined and unfiltered. They are concentrated, yet extremely elegant and well balanced, approachable in their youth but capable of aging beautifully in the bottle.
Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is a lively and exuberant wine, which releases an intense bouquet of plum, blackcurrant, and berries on the nose. On the palate the wine is deep, powerful, and smooth, yet retains a delightful freshness and great elegance. Try it with roast goose or grilled beef ribs.
