The De Martino family left Italy to settle in Chile, founding their winery in the Maipo Valley in 1934. Today, the company, led by Marco Antonio and Sebastián, the fourth generation of the family, is recognized globally for its fantastic wines and its pioneering role in the production of Chilean Carmenere.
The wine is a blend of mostly Carignan with small additions of Malbec, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carmenère. The grapes are sourced from the La Aguada vineyard, situated in the Coastal Mountains of the Maule Valley. The vines, planted in 1955, are ungrafted and not artificially irrigated. They benefit from fairly deep soil composed of clay and granite, and a Mediterranean climate tempered by ocean breezes. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine remains in contact with the skins for approximately three weeks before being aged for two years in foudres.
In the glass, the Vigno Old Vine Carignan presents a powerful and broad aromatic profile, featuring notes of plum, berries, and pepper, with a subtle hint of game in the background. On the palate, it is concentrated and juicy, energetic and fresh, with a crisp acidity and firm, chalky tannins. It is well-structured and smooth, with a mineral edge that lingers on the long finish. It is the ideal wine for grilled red meat or pulled pork.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
