Cullen Wines was founded in 1971 by Kevin and Diana Cullen who are regarded as pioneering winemakers in the Margaret River region. The couple were the first to introduce Cabernet Sauvignon to Wilyabrup and under their daughter, Vanya, the estate has flourished and embraced biodynamic agricultural practices to maximise the quality of their grapes. Proof of the quality of their wines is the fact that Vanya was named “Winemaker of the Year” by both the Australian Women in Wine Awards and Halliday Wine Companion Awards in 2019.

This luscious Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend is sourced from the estate’s Cullen and Mangan vineyards which boast old vines and produce wonderfully concentrated fruit. The must is fermented using wild yeasts and the young wine is aged in French oak for a year.

On the nose there are robust cassis, blackberry and dark cherry notes along with hints of baked earth, dried herbs and toast from the oak. On the palate there is a generous full body, delicate acidity and fine-grained tannins. Ideal for serving with hearty veal, lamb or beef dishes, although it can also be kept in the cellar for another six years or so.
