Podere Forte

Podere Forte is a pioneer when it comes to winemaking. Setting up shop in Val d'Orcia, an area of Southern Tuscany that is not particularly famous for its wine producing, was a natural choice for Pasquale Forte, who fell in love with the land at first sight.

The flavours of the wines are founded in the depths and complexity of the 50 million year old land, and give each glass a taste of history. A strong vision in combination with raw resources have propelled the Podere Forte vineyard to international acclaim, producing stunning vintages, especially when it comes to the Sangioveses.

As Pasquale Forte himself describes: “We work the fields just as they did 2000 years ago but in the cellar we are 200 hundred years ahead.” This delicate and intentional approach to the biodynamics of the farming and cultivation results in high quality wines that encapsulate the terroir.

For Pasquale Forte, the owner of Podere Forte, it's all about the land. He possesses a deep understanding of the historical and biodynamic agricultural practices, with respect to the history of the territory, and their effects on the winemaking process. In fact, Podere Forte holds an ICEA Certificate of Biological Conformity, acknowledging the organic practices the winery adheres to.

In order for each grape to remain intact during the harvesting process, each yield is manually ported in ventilated boxes by a group of twenty pickers. There is also a 5-storey gravity cellar to reduce handling and prevent loss of aroma and fragrance. This fastidious level of detail is present from start to finish, but the quality of the wines is undeniable.
