  • Year: 1970
  • Location: NZ, Nelson

History

Nelson is New Zealand’s sunniest wine region and has largely escaped mass production winemaking thanks to its isolated setting at the northern tip of the South Island. Pioneers Tim & Judy Finn founded one of the area’s top boutique wineries here in the late 1970s in the Moutere sub-region. Today they specialise in producing premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made without any vineyard irrigation thanks to the excellent clay soils which retain plenty of moisture.
