What makes Italian wine labels different from those in other countries?

As most other wine producing nations select a variety to feature as their main ingredient on wine labels, an Italian label will fall back on the origin of the product itself. This also highlights that Italy adheres to the traditional approach of terroir-focused winemaking in which terroir-specific features and wine-making traditions take precedence compared to what grape variety it is.
