Intense ruby red tinged with deep purple, this Primitivo displays colors of ripe raspberry, coupled with aromas of strawberry and red cherry. Following the ripe red berry scents comes a sweet spicy note of cinnamon and nutmeg, stirred together with fresh ground coffee and vanilla beans. Complex aromas are followed by integrated flavors of dried fruit and baking spice, herbaceous undertones and a hint of tobacco leaf. With impressive acidity and structured tannins, this wine has good cellaring potential.

Grown on the family owned and operated Schiena Estate in southern Italy, the Primitivo grapes were hand harvested in late September. Following a 12-15 day maceration period and temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel, the wine was aged in American oak barriques for 6 months, allowing the beautiful baking spice and vanilla notes to develop amongst the bright fruit character. Careful viticulture and attention to detail throughout the wine making process has created this award winning 100% Primitivo.
