Drink now through to 2028. No need to decant before serving.
Carefully crafted from the estate’s finest Merlot grapes and a dash of Carmenere, the Villa Gresti is a refined Bordeaux-style red with an Italian soul. The bright ruby hue and seductive aromas of ripe berries, cocoa and vanilla delight the senses, while the palate offers intense plum, blackberry, and tobacco flavours.
The firm structure, soft tannins and velvety mouthfeel make this a pleasure to drink with red meats, game and hard cheeses. It is also a wine that can benefit from extended cellar ageing over the next decade or so which will allow it to continue evolving and developing.
To create this wine the San Leonardo team carefully harvest the grapes at optimum ripeness and select only the best quality grapes as they arrive at the winery. They then undergo a slow maceration and fermentation in cement tanks. The next step is to age the wine in 225 litre oak barrels for up to 14 months before it is ready to be bottled. Before the wine is released to the market it is aged for at least 12 months more in the bottle to soften the tannins and fully integrate the different components of the wine.
