Radiant rubies and gorgeous garnets sparkle in a glass of this gem like Reserve Cabernet from the single estate of Graf Huyn. With a nose of fruity wild berries and exotic spices, the combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are a beautiful representation of the Alto Adige region of their origin. A dark berry nose explodes onto the palate with flavors of ripe blackberry and boysenberry, with a dash of baking spices and cracked pepper. Subtly and elegantly this Cabernet coats the mouth in velveteen tannins.
Hearty dishes of wild fowl and game will stand up to this big and bold Cabernet, as will a lovely platter of zesty cheeses. Pair with pepper crusted filet mignon, grilled venison or roasted pheasant.
Warm and sun exposed vineyards in the Cabernet DOC produced grapes with smooth tannins and slight minerality from the eroded quartz soil, offering the perfect site for dense, ripe and powerful wines to flourish. Mashed and fermented in steel, malolactic fermentation took place in oak barrels, as did maturation, allowing for a complex and layered wine to come alive with explosive energy.
