Best enjoyed now through 2019. Decant up to 30 minutes, and is best drunk when slightly chilled.
This 100% Cencibel (better known as Tempranillo) is the 13th vintage produced in a genuine pago on the La Solana Estate in Malagón, facing two lagoons on the south and protected by a mountain range on the north. Extreme climates year-round allow for fast-ripening, sugary fruit that impart elegance, racy acidity and an above-average alcohol content of 15%.
Once the cork is out, you will be greeted with scents of ripe strawberries, black plum and roasted coffee with a subtle hint of vanilla.
In the glass, and true to its varietal standard, this wine is bright ruby red with deeper violaceous hues. Upon the first sip, there are bright red fruits swimming through toasty tobacco, vanilla and leather nuances. Toasty and smoky notes throughout are thanks to 12 months of aging in new French and American Oak barrels for the perfect balance of malolactic fermentation. The mouthfeel is smooth and full-bodied with just the right amount of dryness to offset the long-lasting intensity of the finish.
Pair with fruits of all kinds, lamb dishes and especially chocolate. Nothing brings out the true taste of a Cencibel better than chocolate!
The La Solana Estate was founded by Florentino Arzuaga in the early 1990’s and is one of only 13 operating pagos in Spain. The Pago Florentine wine is the only wine produced there. Due to the low-fertility of the soils there, all of the fruit is harvested and hand-picked for producing quality wines.
